Greetings, I am Onno Vocks and that is my full name. Since I do
not have a middle initial, you often see it written as Onno (N. M.
I. ) Vocks. Onno is an very old name that originates from the
northern part of the Netherlands and literally translates into
easy giving, or ungrudging. Vocks is a misspelling of the Prussian
word for Fox; Fuchs, by Dutch administrators agents, who
accidently combined the Dutch Vos, with the German Fuchs, and
created the name Vocks about 5-6 generations ago.
Ethnically, Onno Vocks is an attractive assimilation; Onno Vocks
came in into existence in the Netherlands, but grew up on Aruba,
and the USA, with many stops. Onno Vocks is fluent in Dutch,
Papiamentu, and English, in that order; but also does a fine job
of getting out of sticky situations in German, Spanish, Portuguese
and other Latin based languages. At one time, Onno Vocks moved
seventeen times in a ten-year period and that has never really
left him. Because of this, he can appear in unexpected places and
disappear just as unexpectedly, not being fixed to any area.
Growing up on Aruba was fun, and being isolated on an island meant
having to be resourceful. Materials and parts were in short supply
so you learned how to make an intake valve for a Datsun from an
exhaust valve from an Olds 455, or made a new floor for a car from
the roof of that station wagon that the engine was taken from. If
he wanted to go fishing Onno Vocks had no choice but to build a
boat. There were no boat parts dealers, so you built one, from
from the available materials if you wanted one. Due to this, Onno
Vocks has been taking apart and repairing mechanical devices since
the age of four.
Conforming to his upbringing, Onno Vocks is a true Gemini in the
sense that he can do many different things well, yet is an expert
in almost none of those things. His formal education includes an
A.A. Degree from Palm Beach Community College and Dunwoody
Institute for Machine Tool & Die, and mechanical drafting. Onno’s
learning is backed up with years of involvement in the mold and
die making industries, including assignments for Sunrise Medical,
3M, Honeywell, Parker, Medtronic, Frigidaire, Whirlpool, and Dyno
Nobel.
As a diversion, Onno Vocks was also committed to a few boat-
building adventures, building craft from 14 to 70 feet in length,
including a 30 footer in someone’s basement. Onno Vocks's favorite
pastime in the eighties was constructing Hovercraft, with some
success in national and international competition, with craft that
were often untested, cost less than $1500, and had often had the
epoxy setting on the way to the race.
Due to undesirable events, Onno Vocks is currently in Europe,
helping his elderly mother. Not being able to venture out much,
Onno Vocks has devoted his time to computers and search engine
optimization and control. Trying to somewhat catch up with other
persons who are actively offsetting the assault of the offensive
online extortion industry, that authorities lack the ability to
handle, Onno Vocks spends much of his time learning and not enough
time tearing up the pavement with his favorite mode of travelling;
two wheels and an engine..
